$135,000 cash settlement in favor of a mother against Dr. Ravinder Jerath and University Hospital for negligently leaving a large sponge inside their patient after a c-section baby delivery. The patient complained of abdominal pain for several months afterwards until an ultrasound revealed a large object inside her uterus. Surgery was performed and revealed a large sponge that had grown attached to her large intestine and had to be removed by perforating the intestine several times. (2002 Out of Court Settlement).
